New Year Intentions

Hi everyone -- I hope your Eclipse experience today is uplifting and transformative in all the best ways.

I was looking for some kind of statement of intention for today's New Year's Eve eclipse, and gathered together words from various sources. I am sharing them here with you, if you would like to use or adapt them for your use as we bid farewell to 2009 and open to the energies of 2010. And remember that words contain the most power when spoken aloud...

I prepare to release, to transmute in readiness for a new path forward.

The planetary energies are with me. The Moon lights my path on my journey within. I connect to my Divine Source, to Light, to Freedom. It is time to open, to move into my Divine space, to awaken, to acknowledge my own Divine Light within me, my Divine Self.

I now release the trials of this past year, the dark times I have experienced, my deepest feelings of aloneness. I now dissolve these feelings of separation. That experience is complete. It need not continue for me.

The past now falls away with ease and grace, allowing room for the highest vibrations of Love to fill my being, to the core of my Sacred Heart.

I release all of the negativity of the past, retaining the lessons and wisdom, with love, joy and forgiveness for myself and all others.

I open my heart to receive the vibrations of Love. I release all that no longer serves my highest good and the highest good of all.

I call upon Divine Light to illuminate my mind and heart, that I might be a Beacon of Light. I intend to stay in the Light, in Integrity, in Oneness.

I now connect to the light, wisdom and love within me. I feel the warmth, the hope, the freedom, the joy. I allow Divine Light to embrace me, to nurture me, to transcend all pain and darkness.

Love surrounds me and flows through me -- a constantly flowing Divine river of unending abundance and energy, life itself, more constant than my breathing or my heartbeat.

I feel the divine outpouring of Love as I open my awareness, and I remember how dearly loved I am. I remember my Divine connection.

I move forward now, into the New Year, in Grace and Love.

Blessings to all. Namaste.

Plutonian depths

In spite of the celebrations usually associated with the holidays, the influence of Pluto weighs fairly heavily now. These are the energies of soul-searching and truth-seeking, and -- with Pluto positioned in Capricorn -- the dismantling of structures that can no longer support us.

The structures may be physical, but at their core, they are also emotional, psychological, mental or spiritual. The external forms, after all, are held in place by internal belief systems and thought patterns.

With Mercury and Mars now retrograde, and this strong Pluto influence in effect, this is a good time for releasing the structures on all levels that have held us back. This is especially true as we work with the Lunar Eclipse next week (December 31). The Sun and Venus are both conjunct (aligned with) Pluto at the time of the eclipse, making this a powerful time to purge our energy fields of the blocks and patterns that no longer serve.

With Pluto exactly conjunct the Sun on December 24 and then exactly conjunct Venus on the 27th, we are already working directly with some of the energy of the upcoming eclipse. What are you ready to release, in anticipation of a brand New Year?

In between worlds and interesting phenomena

If you have the feeling of not quite being tethered to this reality, you're not alone.

Wednesday's New Moon was within three degrees of the Galactic Center, the "sun of our sun" energetically. And, the Sun will conjoin the GC tomorrow (Saturday), so we're in a several-day timespan of connecting with some pretty high-vibrational energies.

Dreams and emotions have been fairly intense under this cosmic shower, as the higher frequences vibrate areas where we've been holding onto issues, trying to jiggle them loose. And if we can let them go, observing but not attaching to how we're feeling, we can go a long way under this influence toward greater alignment with our true Divine Nature.

There were some other interesting phenomena that occurred on Wednesday. A sunspot on our Sun erupted, sending medium-level solar flares in our direction (C-class). These are not supposed to be strong enough to be able to interrupt radio and electrical transmissions on Earth, but I am sure we will be feeling them energetically. The SpaceWeather.com website says the "billion-ton cloud" should reach Earth's energy field on December 18 or 19 (Friday or Saturday).

Also last Wednesday, an interesting combination of events occurred in Nebraska, leaving scientists scratching their heads. Here's the information quoted from SpaceWeather.com:

Earthquakes don't rock Nebraska very often. In fact, seismically speaking, it is one of the quietest places in North America. Nevertheless, on Dec. 16th at 8:54 pm CST, USGS seismographs detected a magnitude 3.5 temblor centered near Auburn, Nebraska:

And then the really curious thing happened.

Minutes after the quake, around 9 pm CST, lightning-like flashes lit up the skies around the area of the quake. Telephones in police departments and TV stations rang with reports of bright lights, loud rumbles and shaking ground. Sky watchers, not only in southeastern Nebraska, but also in neighboring Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas, saw a "bright fireball" with "green streamers" moving from northwest to southeast.

Could these events be connected? Nebraska State Trooper Jerry Chab, an experienced amateur astronomer who witnessed the lights and was one of the first to report them, says no. "I think we have the most cosmic of coincidences: A bright [meteoritic] fireball around the same time as an earthquake." Indeed, eyewitness descriptions of the fireball are consistent with a meteoroid disintegrating in the atmosphere. On the other hand, several readers have pointed out scientific studies that associate lightning-like phenomena (including ball lightning) with earthquakes. The fireball, they suggest, might have been a rare manifestation of "earthquake lightning."

So interesting to have so many of these events occurring -- like the spiral light show over Norway last week -- that baffle the scientists and leave the metascientists pondering their greater significance.

It certainly supports our knowing that something cosmic is unfolding at this time...

Happy Solstice!

The spiral light over Norway

Perhaps most of you by now have seen photos of the spiral light formation that appeared over Norway this week. And perhaps you also know that at this point, authorities are claiming that it was the result of an "out of control Russian rocket."

When I first saw the photo of the spiral, I was stunned. It is so perfectly formed, it seems hard to believe it was the result of an out-of-control anything.

I did call a friend who is "in the know" about many things other-worldly, and in her opinion, it was a portal that became visible.

My thinking is that even if there is a "logical" explanation at this point, the symbolism stands. In the same way that manmade inventions like over-the-ear bluetooths indicate our readiness to communicate telepathically, the appearance of this symbol in the sky indicates our readiness to receive, transmit and travel across dimensions.

As above, so below -- as within, so without.

If you haven't yet seen the photos, here's a link to an online news story that has some of the best ones:

Spiral Light Story

A wild card month, indeed.

***************

It's now Friday morning, after writing this post Thursday night -- and I find my perspective has shifted a bit overnight.

Yesterday I was more in the zone of the symbolism of this event, but leaning a bit toward it being of human/physical cause. Suddenly this morning I find myself believing in a combination of explanations. Now I'm thinking that the blue streak was probably the Russian rocket gone awry, but that the spiral itself truly was a portal become visible.

After all, the veil is supposed to be thinning, right? And I still can't see how it would be physically possible for an exploding rocket to form that spiral.

Comments, anyone?

The wild card

December seems to be a bit of a wild card energetically. Perhaps it's Uranus' influence, now that the planet is moving forward again, creating sudden and perhaps unexpected life changes. And maybe it's also having all the planets in direct motion, all eager to get their work with us accomplished. And it's also true that we're nearing another pair of eclipses, a season when there are often major shifts.

And, as well, we are continuing to work with the energy of the Pluto-Saturn square, which is testing the structures of our lives and dismantling whatever does not stand up to the challenge.

On top of that, the Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter triple conjunction is strong again, with Jupiter conjoining Chiron on December 7 and then aligned with Neptune on December 21, within a few hours of the Winter Solstice. This is very high-vibrational energy, bringing forward wounds that remain to be healed, and offering the spiritual perspective that sees the meaning and purpose of all that we experience. With this threesome in Aquarius, the primary healing is of the wound of separation -- the belief that we can be separated by time or space from those we love. This healing involves a complete shift in our perspective, from human to spiritual, from individual to cosmic.

Because of Neptune's involvement, we are also called to dissolve attachments now -- not only to specific outcomes, but also to beliefs, ideas, attitudes and opinions. This is, after all, the last month of the year, corresponding in some ways with the energies of the 12th house of an astrological chart, where we are asked to put down the burdens we've been carrying, and to trust the process of completion, knowing that it always precedes a new beginning.

Another 11-11-11 portal

Yes, Virginia, we have another 11-11-11 portal coming up! This rare event is occurring twice this month. The second one will be this coming Sunday, November 29, 2009.

Looking back to November 11, the date of the first portal, most of us may not be able to point to any outwardly extraordinary event to mark the day -- but if you're like me, you've been sensing a big shift in perspective and in your ability to hold higher-level energies since that time.

There are many channeled writings dealing with the energies of the 11-11-11. Here are links to channelings from two sources I respect, in case you'd like to read more:

See you on the other side!

Thanksgiving and the Farm Sanctuary

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate!

As a vegetarian since age 19 (that's 34 years and counting, in case you haven't guessed my age by my hair color), I was especially excited to get a phone call from my sister in California last weekend, as she and her husband were on their way to the Farm Sanctuary for the Festival of the Turkeys. This is an annual event at a farm where abused farm animals are cared for and allowed to live out their days peacefully and in comfort.

Part of the annual event is a ritual where the people feed pumpkin pie TO the turkeys!

My sister is the "Healthy Living" blog writer for the San Francisco Examiner, and posted a video of their experience at this link:

Farm Sanctuary

The brief talk at the end by Compassionate Cook Colleen Patrick-Goudreau is especially inspirational.

I hope all are enjoying your own versions of this holiday -- and my deep gratitude to each of you for sharing in this journey with me.

Blessings,

Pam

Grounding

It seems that doing a grounding exercise is particularly important now. I've had two occasions in the past several days when odd physical symptoms went away as soon as I did a visualization of sending a grounding cord from my second chakra into the heart of the Earth.

Happy New Moon, everyone!

Pluto-Saturn symbols

Already this morning, a few interesting events that seem symbolic of the square between Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Libra:

- I awoke to find that the clock in our bathroom had stopped overnight (Saturn rules time, Pluto rules the elimination/cleansing process).

- While walking our dogs at the park, we watched a crow, flying very low, chase a squirrel all the way across the parking lot. Crow represents integrity and our willingness to walk our talk (Saturn) and Squirrel indicates the need to release clutter on all levels (Pluto).

- And, it is no surprise that my husband and I had a minor disagreement (Libra rules relationships, and Capricorn rules authority).

So, starting the day off with fanfare!

The quiet before the storm?

The air feels very still this morning, and the feeling of anticipation continues. Tomorrow (Sunday, November 15) is the first Pluto-Saturn square, representing a tension that is ready to be released. The question, of course, is where and how, and what effects we will feel.

I find it interesting that the intermagnetic field is southerly this morning, and fairly strong -- which means the solar wind is more easily able to enter Earth's atmosphere, bringing us new information and energy directly from the Sun. Perhaps it is providing us with the ideas and creativity needed as we move into the changes ahead of us. It does feel supportive of our progress -- so this may be an especially good morning to remain open to insights and ideas.

The 11-11-11 portal

Yesterday was 11-11-11 (2+0+0+9=11), and I'd love to know your experiences.

For me, I woke up feeling "buzzed" -- as if I had an infusion of caffeine, but without the jitters. That feeling lasted all day, until I had an energy treatment in the late afternoon that took me in a slightly different direction.

My first client of the day said she was also feeling very energized, and that it was a "no-coffee-needed day." My second client said that her day had been so busy, she hadn't had a moment to sit and consider that the energy might be moving differently than usual.

That heady feeling has continued in some form today (Thursday), the sense of not really being connected to reality as usual. I've spent the day doing readings, which often leaves me feeling a bit other-worldly anyway. But I'm sensing this is more than "just" the after-session buzz.

So what are you feeling since Wednesday? Anything to report?

November

This new month has been feeling quite different than the last, almost from the first day. October now looks to have been a plateau -- not without events to consider, but a time when many unfolding situations seemed to pause in their process.

This week, by comparison, has involved a lot of movement, and that feeling of anticipation continues. Situations that had been off radar for much of October are now building again, ready to move to the next stage.

We're going through a vibrational upgrade, and next week is evidently a time when we'll feel the energy strongly. Be sure to take care of your physical body by getting plenty of rest, eating well and taking in lots of water. And if emotions come up, feel them but don't attach to them by trying to explain them or justify them -- and then let them go.

Evidently, anger has an initial burst that lasts about 90 seconds -- and then, if we don't hold onto it, it just dissipates. Perhaps the other negative emotions have a similar process.

One way to deal with fear is to change it into excitement. They're the same feeling in the body, actually -- it's just how our mind interprets the feeling that makes the difference.

We can either feel fearful of the unknown, or excited about new possibilities. A great time to practice that shift point!

Setting -- and stating -- our intentions

We all are aware of the importance of setting intentions -- but what may not be realized is the importance of saying them out loud.

Our minds are constantly going this way and that, perhaps thinking positively for a while, then slipping into negativity, then bouncing back again, perhaps when we've realized where our train of thought was leading our energy. So it's a good thing that thoughts themselves don't carry the same power energetically as the spoken word -- otherwise, our lives would be in (more?) chaos, trying to keep up with the conflicting thoughts.

That's one reason why our guides and higher self must wait until we clearly state our intentions before stepping in to help us manifest them. And, they must also abide by the rules of free will, which dictate that we must consciously request assistance before it can come to us. And that's where speaking our intentions aloud is vital.

A recent channeling by Marlene Swetlishoff offered some specific words to use for those who want to participate actively in the energy shifts underway. I've adapted them to fit my needs, and have been finding them a powerful way to begin each morning. If you're looking for some statements to use for your own intentions, I offer these, for you to adapt as suits your needs:

Today, I request and receive downloads of high vibrational energies, DNA upgrades and activations, the activation of my dormant DNA strands, and new ideas, solutions and creativity. I ask for this for the Highest Good of all concerned.

Today, I request that the veils of forgetfulness and the veils of separation be lifted from me, in perfect Divine timing.

Today, I intend to align with the new Earth reality of harmony, love and joy. I embody my own Light Body and see my heart chakra radiating Golden Light. This light radiates out into my higher chakras, creating a great column of Golden Light. This light assists me in aligning with the Highest vibrational frequency levels.

Today, I wish to increase my frequency level. I call to the beings of Divine Light who are assisting me to help raise and magnify my vibrational frequencies. I wish to hold and anchor these higher energies until the next time I will be working with and requesting the increase of these energies.

Today, I call to the beings of Divine Source Energy who are assisting me to help me create, embody, express and emanate the frequency of Love.

And don't forget -- speak your intentions out loud, and with a strong knowing of the power behind the requests you are making.

Blessings to all,

Pam

Special readings offer for November

Hi everyone!

I'm posting this announcement to my blog first, before sending out my Journal for the week, so you all are "the first to know"!

Special Offer!
Pluto-Saturn Cycle Readings

Due to the many questions I received in response to my blog posting last week about the Pluto-Saturn cycle*, I am offering special readings at a special price for the month of November!

We began the current Pluto-Saturn cycle in 1982-1983, when their alignment in Libra initiated themes related to relationship and intimacy, and brought up circumstances where we learned to deal with people, events, or even our own emotions that seemed "outside of our control."

Over the past 27 years, we've continued working with these themes, and met specific challenges in these areas in 1993-94 and 2001-2002. Now, as Pluto and Saturn again interact, we take another step on the path that leads to greater balance and wisdom.

How does your current experience relate to the previous dates in this cycle? What can you learn from those past experiences to help you more wisely and powerfully handle the months ahead? Are certain patterns or behaviors coming to the surface, ones that you're finally ready to identify and release? Are you dealing with relationship issues that you'd like more clarity on? As you look forward to the next 10 months, in what ways are you being supported to transform and take charge of your life?

If you would like to explore answers to these questions, I invite you to set up a special Pluto-Saturn Cycle Reading, at the reduced prices of $45 for a half hour and $75 for an hour (a 10% savings over my usual fees).

To request one of these special sessions, please send an e-mail to pam@northpointastrology.com with "Pluto-Saturn Special Reading" in the subject line. Please note that this offer applies only to this special reading, and only for the month of November 2009.

*For more information, see blog post "The next few weeks" below.

The next few weeks

October is winding down -- or rather, should we say "winding up"? I feel a sense of anticipation, but I'm not sure whether it is intellectually or energetically based, since I consciously know of the upcoming Pluto-Saturn square and could be building on that awareness.

Saturn enters Libra next week, on the morning of October 29 (Pacific Time). My sense is that if we haven't already, we will shortly after that ingress begin to notice the influence of the square with Pluto, which will be exact on November 15.

In preparation for that square, it might be interesting to explore our personal histories with regards to the Saturn-Pluto cycle, which brings up themes of how we take charge of our lives, how we deal with internal and external influences that seem outside of our control, and how we embrace important opportunities for transformation and empowerment.

The two planets were conjunct (at the same degree) in late 1982, and were fairly close to each other through the spring of 1983. That period marked the beginning of the Saturn-Pluto cycle, and so the initiation of some corresponding cycle in our individual lives, depending on the location in our birth charts. For me, the two planets were conjunct my Ascendant, initiating some major changes in my life: the beginning of an intense karmic relationship, and a move to Montana after having lived in California since birth.

The first Saturn-Pluto square was exact in March 1993, October 1993 and January 1994. This was the first test of the seeds planted in 1982, seeing how far we had come in the ability to take charge of our lives and in our willingness to undergo transformational changes.

The Saturn-Pluto opposition was (as I write these words, just glanced at the clock and it is 9:11 a.m.!) exact in August and November 2001 and June 2002. The numbers I just saw on the clock speak the impact of that period of time. That opposition fell on the Ascendant line of the U.S. chart, and so manifested in the "us vs. them" polarity that the entire world became invested in.

Now we have the culminating square of the Saturn-Pluto cycle. Where are we in the "us vs. them" dynamic -- both personally and globally? Where are we in our individual and collective ability to manage the intensity of emotions that can be raised during such transits? How willing are we to claim responsibility for the manifestations of our lives, rather than blaming the "other" for what is occurring? And are we ready to be transformed, to use upcoming events as the catalyst they are intended to be, to become more fully empowered versions of ourselves?

These are the questions these two planets raise. It might feel overwhelming to ponder how we will answer -- and yet, we have help now that we didn't have during the dates of the earlier transits, in the form of the Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter alignment in Aquarius.

This triple conjunction truly feels like the "angel on our shoulders" that we can call on to help as needed. This is the healing of our belief in separation, the opportunity to create spiritual community, and the potential for expanding our consciousness and our understanding of meanings and purposes. This energy is building again now, and with Neptune and Chiron both going direct within the next two weeks, all three planets will be moving forward, ready to lead the way into greater Light.

And with that, I breathe a sigh of relief.

A bumpy ride

A reader wrote to me today, saying, "What is going on with the universe?@!! This is a very disjointed day..."

I've been feeling it as well, and am thinking we're dealing with Mars in the last degrees of Cancer. In general, when Mars is in this very vulnerable sign, we are all a bit more emotionally sensitive than usual. It's easier to take things personally, and to let our emotions run the show.

In addition, today Mars is triggering the degree of the July 21 Solar Eclipse, which occurred at 29 degrees of Cancer. This means that the energies and intentions of that eclipse may be more apparent now.

To tell the truth, it's hard for me to remember right now what was going on back in late July. But the energies this week have felt pretty intense, in keeping with eclipse themes. And, the 29th degree of any sign is said to carry intensity as well, being called a "critical degree" and calling us to complete the lessons related to the sign involved.

Cancer's lessons include learning to hold strong boundaries while still being sensitive to the needs of those around us, nurturing and allowing self to be nurtured in equal measure, and having the strength to feel our emotions without being overwhelmed by them. And, taking clues from the actions of the crab, being able to sidle away from conflict rather than reacting defensively, and sensing when the time is right to trust and to come out from under a protective rock.

I, for one, am looking forward to tomorrow, when Mars moves into Leo.

Remembering the triple conjunction of May 2009

As mentioned in today's Journal, we'll soon be working more intentionally again with the energy of the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, which first became effective last spring and was strongest around the end of May. From talking with clients, I know that many people experienced significant spiritual opening around that time, and I'd love to hear more.

If you'd like to share some nuggets from your own experience at that time, please add your comment to this post. I look forward to reading your story, and hope that our mutual sharing will add to our awareness of what is possible.

My own story is brief, but was very powerful for me:

I awoke before dawn one morning in early April receiving the words: "We're going to incorporate the most powerful energy of all -- LOVE -- into the planet." It was one of those experiences that you know isn't a dream, and can only be interpreted as a message. But, it was the first time I had received information of that sort, and in that way.

I also know that the entire months of May and June felt very other-worldly to me, almost as if we were standing as a bridge between this reality and the higher dimensions. And, as I review my dream journal from those months, I see that my inner life was very active.

And now -- do you have a story to share? I'm eager to hear!

A grey Saturday with hints of blue sky

It's been an odd week. Perhaps Mars conjunct the South Node in Cancer has been behind the dreams and memories of past relationships and the wounds they left behind. And, with Mercury first conjunct Saturn and now square Pluto, we're both aware of and rooting out the negative, critical thinking directed both at ourselves and at others.

In addition, as Jupiter stations direct in Aquarius, he is only four degrees away from Chiron, which means he is amplifying the feelings of separation and alienation, all with the intention of healing that particular wound -- helping us understand and believe that we are never alone, but always united with others by the bond of love.

Clarifying comment about Virgo

I received an e-mail from a reader of this week's Journal, asking about my comments on Virgo:
One thing in this week's journal about Virgo left me with questions: "At the same time, it's hard not to fall into another dark side of Virgo, which perceives the world in terms of victims and martyrs." The phrase resonates, but I don't have a clear understanding of your meaning here. Could you say some more about this topic?
My reply:
As with every sign, the positive traits of Virgo, when taken to the extreme, turn into negative. So the service-orientation of Virgo, when taken too far, can become martyrdom. Virgo is also the healer, but needs to remember that each of us is ultimately responsible for our own healing, and are not merely victims of circumstance.
I hope this helps clarify my meaning! Thanks for asking!

2012 and Sabian symbols

What's interesting about the 2012 predictions is that using our usual astrological reference points, while there are some interesting configurations at that time, the main component -- the alignment of the Sun with the Galactic Center -- is not that unusual. It occurs every December, when the Sun reaches 27 degrees Sagittarius.

The esoteric research that supports the 2012 shift is actually assuming that there are additional levels of alignment with the Galactic Center. Based on that information, we can use the Sabian symbol for the 28th degree of Sagittarius for some clues to the intentions of the 2012 date. It reads:

"A sculptor at his work: The ability to project one's vision upon and to give form to materials."
Dane Rudhyar's interpretation (from /An Astrological Mandala/) reads in part:

"At this stage we see the individual creatively expressing his own particular individuality. He takes the materials available in his socio-geographical environment and shapes them so they reveal to other people something of his inner life and purpose. This is a symbol of man's capacity to transform raw materials according to his personal vision -- thus a symbol of Self-Projection into a Work."
Certainly, if one step in our evolution at this time is the awareness of our creative power, it makes sense that this is part of the energy contained in the 2012 intention. It will be interesting to see how quickly things are manifesting by that time, since there already seems to be a quickening of that effect.

Also intriguing is to look at the Sabian symbol for the 25th degree of Scorpio, where the mean North Node resides in December 2012. As you may know, the North Node represents our path of highest spiritual growth in our birth charts, and in the ongoing "Now," reveals humanity's intended path of spiritual evolution.

The Sabian symbol for the mean North Node in December 2012 reads:

"An X-ray photograph: The capacity to acquire a knowledge of the structural factors in all existence."
And here is some of Rudhyar's interpretation:
"The true philosopher is able to grasp and significantly evaluate what underlies all manifestations of life. His mind's eye penetrates through the superficialities of existence and perceives the framework that gives an at least relatively permanent 'form' to all organized systems. This is Structural Knowledge in contrast to existential knowledge."
There seems to be a common theme here -- that relating to our powers of manifestation, and how we channel creative spiritual energy into form. And isn't that what ascension is about, after all: the combining of spiritual and physical, of higher self and personal ego.

So, the Sabian symbol for the North Node emphasizes our ability to shift our vision, our perceptions, to gain information formally unaccessed by the conscious mind. The symbol for the Sun-Galactic Center alignment references our creative capacity to mold our reality based on the information and insights gained. Quite a powerful combination!

Earthquakes and tsunamis

Mother Earth is displaying the same symptoms as are we. The earthquakes correspond with the shaking up of structures that have been holding our reality in its current form. And the tsunamis are the waves of emotion that are released from the shifting energies.

Like tsunamis, our emotions can remain hidden beneath the surface, and we may not realize that they are even there, until they break to the surface and sweep over the terrain. And then, they can appear so immense and out of control that we often find ourselves reacting in fear -- not only to the original event, but to the intensity of our emotions as well.

Saturn and Mercury

Saturn and Mercury are virtually conjunct in Virgo for an extended period from mid-September until Mercury enters Libra on October 9.

This can have several effects -- most notably, a heaviness and symptoms of depression, overcriticalness, and the fear that we're never going to "get it right," be adequate enough for what we have been called to do, or live up to our own or others' expectations. It can be hard to extricate ourselves from those feelings, and sometimes they seem to take over so that they're all we can think about.

But there are reasons for such experiences. With Virgo involved, we are being given an opportunity to learn to love ourselves unconditionally, no matter how we may have been self-judging or finding fault. Yes, we are striving to grow, to become more perfect representations of ourselves, and we are spiritual beings having a human experience -- BUT we are also human beings, and by definition imperfect. We need to step into the love of self for the effort and intention extended, no matter what the current external manfestations.

And things WILL get better. Patience is another virtue Saturn requires that we learn, so be in the energy of Love as much as possible, and hold the thought of a brighter future not far away.

Equinox and solar winds

Today is the Equinox -- and to celebrate, the Sun's magnetic field (called the Interplanetary Magnetic Field, or IMF) has changed direction, pointing southward instead of northward. This evidently happens periodically (for more information, visit http://spaceweather.com/glossary/imf.html).

When a southward IMF meets the Earth's magnetic field, which points north, they cancel each other out. This means that the magnetic fields of the Sun and the Earth link up, and the solar winds can directly enter Earth's atmosphere.

For us, this means more auroras borealis to delight the senses. On metaphysical levels, it means that we can receive more directly the information and insights carried on the solar winds -- and that more high-vibrational energy will be reaching us.

A good time to make ourselves available to those insights through meditation or creative work. And an especially important time to stay centered, grounded, and in balance.

Happy Equinox!

Symbols

Everything is a symbol. The planets and their interactions with each other represent the internal aspects of our being, as well as how those inner aspects play out in the external physical world.

Right now we are working to find new balance on the planet and in our lives -- and the tension of that endeavor is represented in the opposition between Saturn and Uranus.

Saturn represents the past, karma, and personal responsibility. Uranus represents the future, liberation, and independent thinking. In the tension of this opposition between the two, we are each striving to liberate ourselves from the restrictions of the past, while understanding that we are fully responsible for our lives then as now.

The signs each planet currently occupies are also symbolic. In the case of the Saturn-Uranus opposition, Saturn is in Virgo and Uranus is in Pisces.

Virgo represents analysis, organization, and the efforts we put into improving situations or structures. Pisces represents the spiritual perspective, the ability to surrender, and the trust in a universal plan. As we work with these two energies, we are focused on improving our human experience, while also developing an increased connection to our spiritual center.

Saturn-Neptune quincunx

Today's Saturn-Neptune aspect is having interesting manifestations. As one would think, there are elements of disillusionment in the face of reality, and the need to "get real." At the same time, there is self-criticism at not being able to let go of the illusion more easily. Also woven into the fabric are some elements of rejection and feeling like we don't really fit in -- and yet all of this drama may be taking place internally, so that the question of what's real and what isn't may still be puzzling.

A quincunx aspect calls for an attitude adjustment, and we are in that process of that realignment now. It's important not to be too hard on ourselves, and to maintain a healthy sense of humor about our humanness. After all, Mercury is retrograde now, which means the Trickster is alive and well.

A day to tread lightly

Lots going on today -- Pluto is stationary, Mercury is retrograde, Mars is in Cancer AND it's the anniversary of 9/11. Conversations may not go smoothly, and it may be hard not to shift into defensive posturing when we feel misunderstood. We're at the doorway of some big changes, and that is affecting us vibrationally as well.

Underlying fears and insecurities are coming to the surface to be released so that we do not carry them forward into our new manifestations. And, no doubt, the mental and emotional grids are filled with remnants of the events eight years ago, as people's memories are triggered by today's date.

It is especially important today to stay in the energy of love rather than fear, and to maintain the higher perspective in all interactions. We are planting seeds for the future now -- and it is our choice what seeds we choose to sow.

P.S.: Constructive physical activity is a helpful use of these energies, especially put into making your home environment (Cancer) more stable and supportive. But also make sure you eat small meals throughout the day to keep your blood sugar levels consistent.

Fires and storms

Someone wrote me earlier this week, asking about the purpose of the fires that are burning in several areas of the world. I responded that there are higher purposes, of course, although it's hard to imagine devastation as being positive.

We can gain some insights from the fact that there are certain trees (and maybe other plants?) that rely on fire to enable their seeds to grow. The heat of the fire must reach a specific degree, which then dries and cracks the outer protective covering of the seed, allowing it to then connect with the earth and begin the growth process.

Taking this as a metaphor, we can assume that the fires are representing a process going on within individuals and within humanity, a process in which hard outer coverings are cracked and fall away, allowing the seeds that have been held within to grow.

Synchronistically, I was reading this morning in The Family of Light by Barbara Marciniak, and came across this passage:

Rains, winds, and fires awaken what has been dormant.

She then talks about that hard protective covering around a seed, and relates it to the growth process each of us is going through:

Perhaps just before your casing breaks, you feel the tightness of a dark, confined place; you may feel as if the casing will suffocate and destroy you. Will you allow your seed to sprout, or to die inside because the casing feels tough and hard?

We are all being buffeted in various ways now, either literally by the weather and environmental changes, or internally by emotions coming to the surface to be released. But it helps to realize that what we are actually doing is removing the hard casing around our joy and creativity, so that it can finally find root and grow.

Full Moon and solar winds

Today's Full Moon is in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. This Full Moon represents the culmination of emotional growth and spiritual awareness that has unfolded over the past 12 months. Looking back to a year ago, it's easy to see how much we've changed.

A Full Moon reflects the light of the Sun, so that we may see in the darkness. This is the task of our emotional selves, to reveal what is held within, so that we may direct this energy in positive ways, rather than allowing it to remain stagnant. Full Moons show us where we have been stuck, and release a pressure valve that has been holding in emotional energy -- energy that once released can be used to create more light in our lives.

The Earth is inside a solar wind stream this morning, coinciding with this Full Moon energy and magnifying its effects. The current wind speed (7:40am PDT) is 485 km/sec. Today is a great day for meditation and creative activities, and opening spiritually to the higher vibrations reaching the planet. For those in the northern regions, it will also be a time to watch for the Northern Lights, Earth's response to receiving the solar winds into her energy field.

Now is the time to take full advantage of these heightened energies, and to fill our own energy fields with peace, love and light. The more we can anchor in this higher vibration now, the more easily we will navigate the changes in store for the next two weeks.

Solar winds

I've been watching the daily solar wind speed on SpaceWeather.com for about a year now. Usually a few times a month, the image of the Sun toward the bottom of the page will show a coronal hole, and they will include a prediction of when the solar wind from that hole will reach Earth -- usually five to six days later.

My interest in this started because of reading that the solar winds reaching Earth are how we physically receive some of the energy shifts that we've been feeling, and how new information is broadcast to us as well. It's been interesting to monitor the wind speed (shown at the top left of the main page of the site) and see what corresponds energetically.

It's always amazing to see the aurora borealis that appear when the solar winds reach our atmosphere, too. Amateur photographers around the world send their photos of all kinds of cosmic events to the SpaceWeather site, and the photos of the auroras are usually breathtaking.

So, why am I bringing this up now?

Because today I read this under the photo of the Sun:

"Several holes have opened up in the sun's corona. A solar wind stream flowing from two of them could reach Earth as early as August 28th."

This is the first time I've seen more than one hole opening at a time -- and today there are several. It will be interesting to see what effects we feel. Certainly the auroras should be spectacular.

They're not always correct in their predictions about the exact day the solar winds will arrive. "As early as August 28th" could mean a day or two later.

Right now the solar wind is 356 km/second. The lowest I've seen was in the high 200s. The highest I've seen was in the high 600s.

The 28th is Friday, when Venus and Mercury form a nice, friendly sextile and help us soothe ruffled feathers from earlier in the week. There are no other major aspects between the planets for several days, so it will be interesting to see how the solar winds feel in that clear field.

I'll keep on eye on the site and add comments to this posting periodically. Or check it out yourself at http://spaceweather.com/.

The good, the bad, and... the unexpected

I was just about to start a post tonight, when Butterphly11 sent in her note (see her comment on my "Creativity and focus" posting). Part of what she wrote was right in keeping with what I was thinking about -- perfect synchronicity!

I wanted to share a quote from the book I'm reading (Family of Light by Barbara Marciniak), that I feel we could all use right now:

"Your great solution, no matter what is occurring, is to love yourself and vibrate that frequency outside yourself. Doing so will allow many doors to open, and likewise many unwanted probabilities will simply pass you by, like a bird on the wing."

When we go through challenging times, it's so easy to get caught in the negative emotions of either guilt or blame -- because certainly we or they should be better than this, right? As I mentioned in my response to Butterphly11's post, I've had my own share of both today, and I'm feeling pretty tired of it tonight.

Uranus is opposing Mercury today, so perhaps we find some answers there. It's common for accidents and arguments to happen when this type of aspect is in effect. Mercury rules both communication and transportation, since both are ways to connect. Uranus brings in the energy of the "unexpected," as well as a good amount of electricity that can cause misfiring of the neural pathways. Maybe that's why my brain and what came out my mouth went a bit haywire today -- and why Butterphly11 had her own mishap.

So, in addition to this being a lesson in learning to love ourselves -- even when we're not perfect -- there's no doubt some other messages as well. This is, after all, a Uranus-Mercury aspect, which means the higher mind is meant to be engaged.

Mercury is in Virgo right now -- the sign of the perfectionist. Our criticalness is heightened right now, which means any small misstep we take we are likely to interpret as a major issue, and symptomatic of something very wrong with us. It is equally true that we may see others' missteps in the same light.

Uranus in Pisces opposes Mercury today, showing us that there's an opposite perspective to consider. Pisces is all about compassion and understanding, and unconditional love -- for others AND for ourselves.

So this is the message from our higher minds tonight. To forgive ourselves and others for the very humanness of our natures and our experience. And to realize that as "spiritual" as we may be, we are still navigating a very physical and very interactive world, and there are bound to be mistakes made. The key here is to take the Pisces route, to let go of what has occurred, and to wake up tomorrow morning with a fresh perspective.

And to remember Barbara Marciniak's channeled wisdom -- that our best solution is always to love ourselves and to vibrate that frequency both within us and around us.

Creativity and focus

We're in a powerful few days, fueled by the New Moon in late degrees of Leo, the sign known for creative self-expression. Now is the time to dream the big dream, to plant the seed of possibility, to ponder the "what-ifs" that bring us joy, and not worry so much about how or when.

The Sun enters Virgo late in the day on Saturday (4:39pm PDT), shifting the focus into the more practical world, and helping us begin to conceptualize and plan how to bring our creative dreams into reality.

The entire weekend actually looks to be full of potential, with a Uranus-Venus trine on Saturday invigorating our relationships and our ability to connect at a heart level with others. Then, on Sunday, Pluto trines the Sun, empowering us to take that next step in creating a more perfect world.

Take this opportunity to stabilize your craft and set your sails for the direction you want to go. Next week there may be some choppy seas as a T-square involving Pluto, Mars and Mercury becomes exact on Wednesday. It will help us navigate those seas if we are able to visualize the eventual destination and hold a broader/higher perspective, which understands that storms are sometimes part of the journey.

And if we get blown "off-course," who knows -- maybe we'll end up on the magical South Sea island where all our dreams actually can come true.

The Triad speaks

The trine from the Triad (the Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter conjunction) to Mars began midweek, and now that energy wave is amplified by the opposition from the Triad to the Sun. This means that the higher frequency represented by the Triad in Aquarius is being integrated into our own energy systems on multiple levels, impacting our drive and desires (Mars) and our understanding of who we are (Sun).

It's been a while since we've talked in depth about the Triad energy and intention, so a brief refresher: Neptune is dissolving the boundaries between people and between dimensions; Chiron is awakening and healing the wound of separation; and Jupiter is amplifying our understanding that there is a broader intention to our lives, and a greater meaning.

This energy has been with us now almost four months, and it continues to open doorways into a new understanding of what it is to be inhabiting a human body at this time of great change. Many are experiencing greater awareness of other dimensions, through dreams or through waking experience. Synchronicities, those reminders that there is intention to our lives and to the universe, are increasing on a daily basis. There's also an odd but pleasant feeling of floating, and the continued need to rest, rest, rest.

This wave of energy will be with us through Monday, August 17, when the Neptune-Sun opposition is exact. The more we can open to the expansiveness and compassion that is available now, the more easily we will navigate the coming week -- which may bring some interesting and unexpected changes with the Uranus-Mars square on Tuesday and the Super New Moon on Thursday.

Ahhhh....

Finally, the dust has settled and the skies seem much clearer than they have for weeks.

The infusion of energy with last week's Lunar Eclipse was enormous and quite profound. Yesterday was the first day I felt and saw the light that was promised on the other side of the tunnel we entered last week. And based on how it feels and looks from here, the tunnel was worth it.

Adequate rest seems to be very important now. Holding this higher vibration is easier in the morning hours. You may notice that buoyancy of heart and step comes more readily early in the day. As we get into the afternoon and evening hours, we become increasingly aware of the physical body's need to restore itself through sleep. Last night after dinner I went to lie down to take a nap at about 7pm, and fell sound asleep, finally getting up at 11:30pm to "officially" go to bed.

In some ways, it looks like the same world. But in substantial ways, it feels very different internally. And that's the key to the castle door, is it not?

And the aftermath

For Wednesday's Lunar Eclipse being only a partial eclipse, it seems to have packed a whallop.

Thursday I felt sleepy all day, by afternoon barely being able to keep my eyes propped open, and feeling lightheaded all evening. Today's much the same, with very little focusing power.

It seems to be true that when the frequency on the planet is raised, it takes a while for our physical bodies to adjust. And yet, not everyone feels these things, which always raises the question, Why?

It may be that clues can be found in our astrological charts. Wednesday's eclipse was square my Mercury, so the corresponding fogginess and lack of brain power makes sense, since Mercury represents our logical thought processes.

And, since that Sabian symbol for the eclipse had to do with entering a tunnel, perhaps symbolically that is what is occurring. Our senses take a while to adjust when we enter a tunnel -- we can't see clearly because the light is dimmed, every sound has a little echo attached, even the air feels different to our skin and our lungs. Depending on how long this particular tunnel is, our senses will either adjust rather quickly, or we'll soon be emerging out the other side into the bright sunlight again.

In the meantime, a good snooze may be the best solution! We do a lot of assimilating of new information while we're asleep, and our physical bodies are able to recover more readily, too.

I've just convinced myself... Time for a nap.

Anticipation and intention

With tomorrow's Lunar Eclipse less than 24 hours away, already the other-worldly feeling has become predominant. The beginnings of this shift actually began yesterday (Monday), with an emergence from the tension of the previous days as we released the patterns represented therein.

Rational thought takes a backseat during such times of energy shift. The brain feels foggy, the heart takes precedence. There may not be much of a practical nature accomplished over the next few days, when what can potentially be achieved of a spiritual nature is paramount.

The Sabian symbol for tomorrow's eclipse, "A train entering a tunnel," fills us great expectations. We imagine the tunnel to have the qualities of a worm hole in space, transporting us magically to another reality. And while the rational mind doubts this possibility, who is to say what opportunities are before us?

I am in the middle of reading another Barbara Marciniak book, and am appreciating her suggestions for statements of intention. Making these kinds of statements during tomorrow's eclipse, to focus the direction of our journey, will be especially powerful.

Imagine that once having entered the tunnel, the place where you emerge will be decided by what intentions you hold firmly within your mind and heart. This is a powerful time indeed.

Here are a few of my favorites from Marciniak's book:

As a request: "Spirit, I am wishing to be employed by you. Put me to work and show me what I can do. Give me the opportunity to live my life, to speak my truth, and to carry this light around the globe."

To raise our frequency: "Use the pillar of light. Visualize a pillar of light coming in through the top of your head, opening your crown, and filling your body with light. Picture this cosmic pillar of light coming from the higher cosmos, filling you, and then coming out your solar plexus and making a ball of light around your body so that you exist within a glowing etheric egg."

As a statement of intention: "I want to accelerate my personal evolution. I want Spirit to assist me in a greater capacity. I want my body to regenerate itself. I am willing to give up difficulty so I can be a living example of what humanity can be."

The Lunar Eclipse is exact tomorrow (Wednesday, August 5) at 5:55pm PDT.

See you on the other side!

Pluto strikes again

I don't know about anyone else, but today's Pluto-Venus opposition is definitely making itself known, and not in ways that feel particularly good. Perhaps it's because Venus is quite strong in my chart -- ruler of my Sun (Taurus) and also ruler of my Ascendant (Libra), plus being in mutual reception with my Mercury, so strongly influencing my thinking patterns.

I just picked up my new issue of The Mountain Astrologer to read the forecast for today, looking for a bit of grounding. Here's what it says about the Pluto-Venus opposition today:

"Sweet Venus in caring Cancer meets the Big Bad Wolf of Plutonian desire, manipulation, and control. Unease in relationships may cause withdrawal and resentment. Yet, partnered or single, we can use this time to face the dark fears of dissatisfaction and rejection with tender care for our wounds and total commitment to change. The pendulum is ready to swing us away from our insecurities and toward deeper fulfillment."

I must say that "the dark fears of dissatisfaction" and the accompanying insecurities are definitely in my face today! But I'm also well aware that part of the healing is compassion for self and the willingness to accept the dark along with the light -- a very Plutonian lesson.

Hopefully, since Mercury enters Virgo tomorrow (Sunday) and Pluto trines Mercury on Monday, we'll soon be able to take a step back from the emotional complexity of our feelings and to wrap our minds around the larger lessons. Virgo is very adept at analyzing and knowing what needs to be done for healing to take place. And with Pluto in Capricorn in positive aspect to Mercury, we should be able to use Capricorn's objectivity as a helpful tool rather than as an instrument of torture!

Standing in the lobby

Everything seems to be moving in slow motion this week. Even the weather in our area is contributing to the desire not to move or do anything strenous. Today was in the high 90s, which is very rare in the Pacific Northwest. And tomorrow is forecast to be 101 degrees in Seattle, an all-time heat record.

Energetically, this period between the Solar Eclipse on July 21 and the Lunar Eclipse on August 5 feels like we're in the lobby, bags in hand, waiting for our hotel room to be ready. There's really nothing to do but wait and take advantage of the chance to sit down for a while. After all, the journey's been a bit rocky lately, so it's important to take a few minutes (days) to pause and remember what a deep breath feels like.

No doubt the opposition between Mercury and the Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter conjunction is part of what we're feeling. Mercury rules our mental faculties and our day-to-day activities -- and being opposed by the Triad puts a big STOP sign right in front of us. It's not meant to be frustrating, but it is intended to help us detach from the need to be constantly active. Perhaps this is primarily an adjustment time, allowing our bodies to catch up with all the energy shifts that have occurred in the past three weeks. And one of the side benefits is that solutions to problems often appear more readily when we're not trying so hard to find them.

Take full advantage of any lull you may find this week. Get extra sleep, take good care of your physical needs, drink lots of water, enjoy being outside and find time to relax. The activity associated with next week's Lunar Eclipse will come soon enough.

In the aftermath

The energy from Tuesday's Solar Eclipse has been very interesting! All that day, it was hard for me to really feel motivated and to focus on anything for very long, and from what I hear, that was true for others as well. I ended up going to bed at 8 p.m., which is unusually early.

It feels a bit like a different reality is settling in, although the tangible evidence is sparse. Perhaps with this being the middle eclipse of three, it truly represents that midway point in a much larger shift. It doesn't yet feel grounded, and perhaps won't until the Lunar Eclipse on August 5/6.

It's interesting that there were auroras on Tuesday night, when none had been predicted. Here's what SpaceWeather.com had to say about that this morning:

"[The auroras] began when a seemingly minor solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field. The minor hit turned into a not-so-minor display because a crack opened in the Earth's magnetic field, allowing solar wind to pour in and fuel the storm. Northern Lights descended as far south as the Dakotas, Montana, Iowa and Wisconsin. The solar wind is still blowing, but the crack has closed, bringing an end to the lights."

I find it quite intriguing that Mother Earth chose to create an opening in her magnetic field on the night of the Solar Eclipse, when the impulse of energy for change was so strong. No wonder we feel that something big has occurred, and that there's a sense of waiting for the new form to manifest.

One other "side benefit" of this eclipse energy -- and appropriate, since the eclipse was in Cancer -- is a heightened sensitivity and stronger emotional response. It may be hard right now to keep the irritations and hurt feelings in perspective. But remember, we're in completion mode with this eclipse being in the final degree of Cancer, and so there may be several levels of emotional debris coming to the surface to be released. To stay in balance, it may help to ground our energy into Mother Earth, to consciously release the debris, and then to fill the space that is left with light.

The Solar Eclipse -- A change in perception

We saw five sharp-shinned hawks this morning.

We live not far from St. Edward State Park, and every morning walk there with our dogs. On this eclipse morning as we were walking, I saw ahead something on the ground -- and as we got closer, the "something" flew up into the trees. A few steps further, and three winged ones flew from one tree to another. Then, finally, as we were very near that tree, five hawks took flight.

And now, reaching for my "Medicine Cards" book, I opened directly to the chapter on Hawk. Here is what I now read:

"Hawk is the Messenger. Hawk teaches us to be observant, to look at our surroundings. The shrillness of Hawk's call pierces the state of unawareness and asks us to seek the truth.

"Hawk's messages are to be aware of the signals in our lives, to notice and receive them. Hawk also calls us to circle over our lives, to examine them from a higher perspective."

The fact that there were five hawks (or at least that was how many we saw) brings in the element of change. Numerologically, Five is about versatility, expansion and flexibility -- all qualities we need when moving from one state of being to another.

This being the day of the Solar Eclipse, it makes sense that it is a time for being flexible in our perceptions, opening our sight beyond the obvious, and seeing the higher perspective. And eclipses are usually energetic turning points, opening new doorways and initiating change.

Perhaps this morning's message from Hawk will become even more clear as the days ahead unfold.

If you have an eclipse story to share, please comment!

Changes afoot

We're well into the energies of the upcoming Solar Eclipse now. And Mother Earth is exhibiting her own version of the energy shift. In the last couple of days, the intensity of daily earthquakes has risen considerably, with the largest being a 7.6 magnitude off the coast of New Zealand.

Since we are All One, it makes sense that Gaia would be exhibiting her own labor pains.

I heard a wonderful quote recently, by Barbara Marx Hubbard. I'll paraphrase -- it was something like: "If we were in labor and didn't know we were giving birth, we'd think we were dying."

I thought that was an incredibly insightful comment. If we think about current events as part of the process of labor, it puts everything in a different light. Labor isn't fun, it hurts, and we have to stretch ourselves beyond what we thought was possible. What pregnant woman hasn't thought about bringing a full-term baby into the world, and wondered how her body would actually manage to perform the incredible feat?

And yet, the end product -- the newborn babe -- and the wave of love that cascades not only over the mother but over everyone in the room (usually) is often enough to make that same woman decide just a few months or years later that she wants to do it all again.

That's where we are now, in the birthing room. The labor pains are noticeable. But the results, the wave of Love that will engulf us (that we are beginning to feel), will be such that we will hardly remember the discomfort we felt getting there.

Energy field of Truth

As I awoke this morning, I was being shown a sapphire blue energy field surrounding the Earth. It seemed to be straddling two layers -- I think the stratosphere and the atmosphere -- so covering the boundary between the two.

I've asked to know what this energy field is about, and my thoughts are that it represents the energy of Truth that is beginning to permeate the very air we breathe. Channelings from several other sources lately speak of new truths being revealed in the near future, that will significantly shift our perceptions.

The brilliant blue of the energy field in the image I received also makes me believe our Third Eye (6th) chakras will be activating in the near future, more completely than before.

Is anyone else receiving similar information?

An open door

I was away on vacation last week, a lovely rendezvous with my sisters. We pledged last summer after our father's passing to meet somewhere once a year to reconnect and relax, and our plans finally came to fruition at a resort spa in Napa Valley. It was such a different surroundings than I'm used to, I couldn't tell clearly what was going on energetically, with no base to compare to. But now, having returned and back to "normal" life, I very much sense that a major shift has occurred sometime in the past few days.

I'm calling it "an open door" because it feels like the natural next step -- and because there doesn't seem to be much blocking the way from our going forward. To throw in another visual aid, it's as if the water is now flowing freely through the doorway, rather than having to break down or break through something.

As we get closer to next week's Lunar Eclipse, I think we'll be seeing and feeling more along these lines. Everything is going to move quickly, and part of our challenge will be not to attach ourselves to any of the manifestations as they roll on by -- because they'll be gone in a moment, with another to take its place.

Which means we need to do our best not to worry about challenges that arise, and likewise not to get too attached to the gifts -- because as the water flows, we will continue to move through both the light and the areas of shadow.

A postscript to my sisters getaway: I found a mug in the gift shop at the spa that I couldn't pass up. On one side it says, "the universe knows" and on the other side, "trust the process." Seems like perfect guidance for these times.

Blessings! Pam

The pause before inhale

With Uranus stationary now, it feels a bit like that pause in the breathing cycle where we momentarily rest before taking another inhale. We are certainly setting the stage for considerable shifts over the next few weeks, with the three eclipses scheduled. Eclipses always correspond with a change in the way the cosmic wind is blowing -- and to have three within five weeks is considerable.

The first eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse on July 7, is the "new" eclipse, based on the fact that eclipse locations repeat every 19 years. While the eclipses on July 22 and August 6 are at the same degrees as their predecessors in 1990, the July 7 eclipse is anchoring a new energy into the planet.

A Lunar Eclipse is a magnified Full Moon, and so is meant to bring about increased awareness to some area of our experience. The eclipse next week is a partial eclipse, anchoring new energies at 15 degrees of Capricorn (the location of the Moon) and 15 degrees of Cancer (the location of the Sun).

To be proactive in directing our growth, we can find where those degrees are located in our natal charts, and spend some time considering how we are being asked to grow in new ways in these areas. If you need reminders about the meanings of the different houses, the "Houses" page of my website at www.northpointastrology.com/1538.html will supply some basics to work from.

What's up in L.A.?

A friend just e-mailed me that question, based on the transitions of three celebrities in just a few days of each other: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson.

One common thread is that all three were icons who had their greatest fame decades ago. My thinking is that this relates to Pluto being opposite the Sun this week. Pluto in Capricorn is tearing down old structures that are no longer applicable or viable in our new reality -- and it makes sense that this would include role models and icons.

We may see more along these lines, since the Pluto-Sun opposition was part of the Solstice chart, which is considered an indication of trends for the next three months.

Adjustment phase

It's taking a while to adjust to the energies that came in with the Solstice, especially on physical levels. As we raise our vibrational levels, the cellular structure of our bodies are changing, and everything needs to shift accordingly. If you're feeling achy and tired right now, this adjustment phase may be the cause.

Still, there's a new sense of possibility that has opened up, and today's New Moon is amplifying that feeling. This is actually a "SuperMoon," which means it is occurring when the Moon is at perigee (the part of its cycle where it is closest to the Earth). This proximity amplifies the Moon's magnetic effects on the planet and her people, another reason we may be feeling more sensitive today.

Adding to that sensitivity is the fact that the New Moon is in Cancer, perhaps the most feeling-oriented of the signs. Under this influence, we may be feeling emotionally vulnerable, and in need of all the self-nurturing we can give to ourselves. A good day to nestle in, if you can, and sip soul- and body-nourishing fluids.

The Pluto-Sun opposition is exact tomorrow -- very early here on the Pacific coast (12:39am PDT), so we'll be seeing the effects both today and tomorrow. The tension needn't result in conflict, however. The way through the stress of an opposition is to find a place of balance in the middle. This means acknowledging the need to make significant changes in how we've structured our lives up to now, and rooting out the fears that have kept us from taking charge of our life direction (Pluto in Capricorn). At the same time, we must realize the need to treat ourselves kindly and gently, and perhaps to make new commitments to strengthening the emotional foundations that support our going forth (Sun-Moon-Vesta in Cancer).

Solstice and....?

There's a building sense of anticipation in the air. The Solstice is this weekend (Saturday evening, 10: 48pm Pacific Daylight Time), and it appears to be an important turning point.

In whatever ways you can utilize this energetic wave, it will be a good one to catch and ride! There's a new meditation specifically to use this weekend just posted by Solara An-Ra -- you can download the "Octahedron of Love Meditation" file at www.solara.org.uk/JUNE2009NEWSLETTER.htm or watch a meditation video on YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=12YNwvxl4yY&feature=related.

It's interesting that different versions of this octahedron meditation have appeared in several channeled postings recently -- it may not be the only way to take advantage of the incoming energies, but it seems to be both a powerful and appropriate way to connect with them.

Astrologically, there's plenty of verification of the important shift taking place. At the time of the Solstice, the Moon aligns with Mercury in Gemini, helping us to open our minds to new ideas and to be willing to change as needed. Venus is conjunct Mars in Taurus, helping us take concrete action inspired by the heart's wisdom and the knowing of what has true value in our lives. The Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter alignment continues to broadcast higher heart energy in support of our spiritual and emotional healing.

That means that seven of the eleven primary astrological players are involved in a conjunction -- a sure indicator that we are completing a phase of our evolutionary development, and beginning an important new chapter.

The Pluto-Sun opposition at the Solstice should help us get to the core of what needs healing, and the wide square from both planets to Uranus can help free us from attachment to what has gone before. These aspects are perhaps the wild cards of the Solstice chart, since neither Uranus nor Pluto tends to be subtle in effect. But the potential here for important shifts is hard to ignore... and exciting to consider!

Many blessings to all on the ride ahead!

Physical symptoms

I received an e-mail today from a client with a question that I thought others might have, too. Here's what she wrote:

"I have been experiencing an inexplicable sense of anxiety, especially in my 4th chakra area. I have a consistent morning practice and a Dahn yoga practice. I wondered if the astrology of the times would be a factor in my puzzling symptoms."

And here's what I replied:

Your symptoms are not uncommon! The energies that have come in starting June 1 have been highly elevated High Heart chakra energies, and many people I know (myself included) are experiencing physical symptoms. As the level of Love increases, the level of fear rises as well, so that we will find the flow that guides us through.

Everything is vibrating to this higher energy, and if we have some residual emotional/mental patterns that are not in sync, they're vibrating, too. I'm trying to think of an analogy... the best I can describe is visualizing a set of bells suspended in air. Some are perfectly aligned, but a couple are off-center. As a wind comes through, all the bells start to chime, but the ones that are off-center kind of go clunk instead.

So fears that remain inside us, yet to be processed, are clunking loudly. And since we're healing not only this lifetime but all our lifetimes, and not only our generation but the generations preceding us, we have many levels to work on. Fears that may not seem like ours are coming up, in addition to the ones we recognize. But they exist somewhere in us, and so they vibrate, ready to be released.

Perhaps astrologically, we can point to the alignment of Venus and Mars as amplifying the enhanced heart energies, already well established by the Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter conjunction. If Venus and Mars are involved, we may see some intensification of symptoms and the accompanying need to release fears through the exact Mars-Venus conjunction on June 21.

Intensification

It seems we're flowing into a channel where things are moving more and more swiftly. The energy shift that took place early this week was quite profound -- does anyone else feel like they're a different person than they were just a few days ago?

My guidance said that this impulse was High Heart energy, and it truly does feel expansive. And, as a result, slipping back into lower-vibrational emotions and places feels all the more deadening.

It appears to be time to weed out, clear out, clean out whatever no longer matches the higher vibrational path. We have a local recycling event tomorrow, so I am finally discarding an old computer I haven't used for years. The process of removing the computer this morning ended up taking on a life of its own. What began as a 5-minute transport out turned into a 3-hour rampage of clearing and cleaning.

And, for those of us on the west coast of the United States, in particular Oregon, Nature swept through with quite a wind and thunderstorm yesterday, doing her own version of cleaning house -- perhaps in anticipation of Sunday's Full Moon energies, which will be helping us release the ancient thought patterns and beliefs that have inhibited our progress.

June begins

It's been an interesting day. The energies are already feeling subtly different than even just yesterday.

In meditation this morning, when I called light to me as usual, it came in and around me softly, rather than as a beam of bright light, which I am more used to. So perhaps there is a more feminine energy afloat? That would certainly go along with the High Heart chakra opening. And I very much admit to feeling more emotional today, more vulnerable perhaps.

And, from talking with a friend, we both agree that we're feeling less grounded.

Anyone else have an experience to share? Does June already feel different than May to you?

Chiron centerstage

Chiron's alignment with Neptune and Jupiter is now focusing our attention on the core wounds that we carry, the ones described by the sign, house placement, and aspects of Chiron in our individual birth charts. We can look at the moment of our first breath as the moment in time we came in to heal -- for ourselves, for the Earth, and for all humanity -- and Chiron's message as a pivotal part of that healing.

It is Chiron's way to bring these core wounds to the surface, so that we may consciously acknowledge them, love the wounded and fearful part of ourselves, and invoke the healing needed. These wounds are emotionally based, and yet spiritually healed. And, Chiron's promise is that as we heal these wounds, we gain greater access to our spiritual nature and higher self.

Neptune and Jupiter

It's appropriate, with the alignment between Neptune and Jupiter being exact, that today it is a Galactic Tone Day 13 in the Mayan Calendar. The keyword for 13 is Ascension, and the description reads:

"Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort."

"It is a good day to Sit on a Rock."

Mercury retrograde

This is a very powerful Mercury retrograde time, in keeping with the planet's square aspects to the Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter alignment. There is a sense of spiritual urgency -- we want to finish up, to move on, and yet this ascension process is about bringing our totality forward -- emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. This Mercury retrograde time is allowing the processing to occur that will allow us to move forward in wholeness.

Energetically, we are working 24 hours a day to shift into the new space. That's why we're exhausted, and yet why we wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. It's why we have so many odd maladies manifesting in our bodies, as we physically adjust to the spiritual changes.

Mercury goes direct on May 30, but will cross the point at which he originally went retrograde on June 15. Between now and the end of May, our focus is mostly inward, and our task is to keep on with the personal and spiritual work, and to have patience that the outer will catch up with the inner light in relatively short order. The shift then begins, and we may feel we're in a whole new world by the time of the Solstice on June 20.

Healing along the lines of time

The healing we are doing right now is incredibly profound. In my own life, I find myself working with two specific health issues -- one that my mother had, and the other one that my father carried.

As we heal, and heal the energetic/emotional causes of the symptoms we hold, we send that healing and awareness through time and space to heal the generations and lifetimes that came before -- and those yet to come.
